About Lake Conroe

Lake Conroe is located in the northern part of Montgomery County, Texas about an hour north of Houston. Construction of this 22,000 acre lake began in 1970 and was completed in 1973. While its primary purpose is to provide treated surface water for Conroe, The Woodlands, Houston proper and other downstream communities, it is also a recreational wonderland for area residents. Whether hosting world-class bass fishing tournaments or weekend boating and skiing or a quick kayak workout, Lake Conroe has become the cornerstone of Montgomery County's economic and residential everyday life. Being 26 miles long and 6 miles wide at its widest point, there are three municipalities bordering Lake Conroe -- Conroe, Montgomery, and Willis -- there are literally hundreds of communities surrounding its more than 150 miles of shoreline, and each of those distinct neighborhoods offers its own unique lifestyle. Though considered to be a Montgomery County "asset" by most, the northern tip of the lake also runs up into Walker County. All of that northern tip and much of the northern half of Lake Conroe abuts the Sam Houston National Forest and offers great bass fishing whereas most of the southern half favors recreational boating, residential communities, restaurants and shopping amenities. When you're ready to explore the myriad attributes of these communities and match them to your own preferred lifestyle, Sellers Realty Group will be here help you sort through the details. For now, we invite you to spend as much time as you wish browsing our website and we hope that you'll find it to be a resource that will make your life easier.
