Moorestown, NJ real estate is thriving, largely in part to the town being ranked as number one on Money Magazine's list of the best places to live in America (2005). Moorestown, NJ real estate took off when the Moorestown Township was incorporated as a township on March 11, 1922 by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature. The township was taken from portions of Chester Township (now Maple Shade Township), based on the results of a referendum held in April of 1922.

The township is located in southwest Burlington County, and borders Maple Shade Township to its south, Cinnaminson Township and Delran Township to its west, Willingboro Township to its north, and Mount Laurel Township to its east.

The township aims to stay true to its Quaker heritage, and until 2007, had banned all liquor sales since 1915. There were referendums to repeal the ban, but these failed in 1935 and in 1953. However, in 2007, the Township Council approved a referendum that would allow an auction sale of just six liquor licenses, in conjunction with the state limit that allows one per every 3,000 residents. These 6 licenses to sell liquor in Moorestown Township are expected to sell quickly with a price of over $1 million apiece.

Within Moorestown Township is the census-designated place and unincorporated area of Moorestown-Lenola.
